Mahncke Park’s Annual Home Tour
Each year in late October, Mahncke Park has its annual home tour. Our primary goal in undertaking this event is to continue to improve our neighborhood image and to introduce potential future residents to the neighborhood. The home tour is our neighborhood association’s only fund raiser and proceeds benefit our neighborhood projects and annual get-togethers and enable us to make financial contributions to Lamar Elementary School, Lion’s Field, The Botanical Center, and The Fisher House at Fort Sam Houston.
Home Tour 2008
The 2008 edition of the Mahncke Park Home Tour took place October 19, a sunny Sunday. Coordinated again this year by Joyce Felter and Julie Shank of Parland Place, the home tour featured 6 lovely bungalows on Allensworth, Carnahan, Pershing, and Queen Anne.

Home Tour Legacy Continued in 2008
The 7th annual Mahncke Park Home Tour held on October 19, 2008 was a huge success. The architectural style of the homes on the tour was Craftsman bungalows built in the mid 1920’s. Defining features for this style are typically open rafter tails, tapered porch columns, wide eaves, eyebrow gables, triangular knee braces, front porches, numerous sashed windows with leaded glass, high ceilings and hardwood floors.
