HISTORY
Mahncke Park is named for Ludwig Mahncke, the city of San Antonio’s first Parks Commissioner, appointed in 1896. As parks commissioner, he was instrumental in the development of Brackenridge Park. There is a monument to Ludwig Mahncke in Mahncke Park, near the intersection of Broadway and Parland Place.
